Communication Board

Hello All,

Just a quick little blog post today because so many of you asked for a way to download our communication board that we bring to events. What’s a communication board? Well it’s a form of visual communication that can be used in home, school or community settings. This is obviously a low tech version of what is an ever increasing amount of high tech apps and/or portable physical devices that help autistic and other low verbal or non-verbal individuasl communicate more effectively.

This is a very basic communication board communicating emotions, wants and needs. The icons are large for those who might struggle with precise movement. We also included a number pad and alphabet so an individual could communicate more elaborate thoughts as well. This board fits nicely on letter size paper - front and back. We recommend that you work with either a Speech Therapist or another trained professional that provides Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device services to help you determine the best fit for your autistic loved one. This is not a one size fits all type of purchase and there are A LOT of different options available. The cost of these items can vary widely as well.
